Yr 2 Bramble

Welcome to Bramble

 Mrs Corcoran    Miss Allnutt

In Year 2 we have a hard-working team of dedicated teachers who ensure that all children receive a broad, balanced and creative curriculum with enjoyment of learning whilst striving to achieve high outcomes and standards.

Autumn Term:

This term we will be focusing on our cross curricular topic – Pirates. Where children can explore the life of a pirate

Topic: Pirates

This will be a cross curricular topic which will combine Literacy, Geography, History, Art and Design Technology.

Literacy: Our writing will come from The Power of Reading scheme. Beegu, Lila and the secret of rain and Traction Man are the books we will be focusing on this term.

Numeracy: We will be looking at Properties of shape, number and place value, addition and subtraction, measure, position and direction.

Science: Our topic this term is Materials.

P.E: Dance, gymnastics and striking and fielding

Homework

Each Monday children will be given homework and spellings, which will need to be returned on Friday as this is spelling test day. We would like children to practice these at home as well as in school, in order to achieve a minimum pass score of 7/10. If children do not achieve this, they will be expected to do a retake on Monday morning.

Children should be reading at home everyday. Please find time to read with your child and discuss their book with them. Please sign their Reading Record book everyday and indicate the number of pages read.

Children will have the opportunity to change books daily.

Additional information

  • Our class has PE and Games lessons on Monday and Friday. Please ensure your child has a complete PE kit as they will not be able to participate without one. This includes a white T-shirt, blue shorts or tracksuit bottoms and plimsolls.
  • If you have an old shirt or t-shirt at home, please send in for your child to wear during art lessons to protect their clothes.
  • Please label all parts of your child’s school uniform, water bottles, lunch boxes and book bags.

Our Class Assembly this year is on the 15th February at 09.05 in the Junior Hall. We would love it if you could join us.
