HOMEWORK IN YEAR SIX

 

Reading

All children in Year 6 are expected to read at home for a minimum of 20 minutes a day and to have their Reading record initialled by a parent or carer daily to show that they have completed their reading. Children who do not read for more than two days consecutively will be kept in for ten minutes at lunchtime to read in class.

 

Monday

Spelling Homework - Yellow Folder (10 personal spellings to be learnt using strategies learnt in class by Thursday)

 

Thursday

Spelling Homework – Red Folder (10 spellings based on the spelling rule learnt or revised during the week and a worksheet to practise the rule, to be learnt by Tuesday)

 

English Homework (one or two pages of grammar or punctuation practice, based on the week’s learning and a Reading Comprehension, to be handed in on Tuesday)

 

Maths Homework (one or two pages of maths practice, based on the week’s learning and a 15-minute arithmetic test, to be handed in on Tuesday)

Homework Club

Children who are unable to complete homework at home may stay in on a Monday lunchtime and complete it under supervision. Children must see their class teacher if they wish to do this.

PE LESSONS- THURSDAY AND FRIDAY

Please ensure your child has the correct kit in school on these days.

 

SCHOOL UNIFORM

Most of the children look extremely smart in their Lionel school uniform. Please ensure your child is always wearing the correct uniform. The School Uniform policy is available on the school website.
