Holy Trinity Primary School Achieving Our Best

Uniform

Lionel Primary School Uniform Policy

It is our policy that all children wear school uniform when attending school or when taking part in a school-organised event outside of school hours.

Our policy is based on the belief that a school uniform:

  • Promotes a sense of pride in the school
  • Gives a sense of community and belonging
  • Is practical and smart
  • Identifies children with the school
  • Allows a sense of equality amongst all pupils
  • Is practical and designed with health and safety in mind.

We rely on parents/carers to support the school and co-operate with governors and staff by following our uniform policy and sending their children to school correctly dressed. We encourage parents/carers to contact the school it they are unsure about any aspect of the policy or if they are having difficulty in abiding by it for any reason.

  1. The Uniform

Children should wear the following items:

  • Lionel Primary logo sweatshirt or cardigan in navy blue
  • Lionel Primary logo or plain polo shirt in gold.
  • Plain grey school trousers, skirt, shorts or pinafore dress. There should be no branding or trousers with cargo style pockets.
  • Plain black, grey or white socks/tights
  • Summer dresses in yellow or blue gingham check

Shoes

Children must wear black shoes for school.  Shoes must be plain black and without logos or coloured soles.

In the summer closed toe sandals may be worn with socks. Sandals should be in plain navy, black or white.

In the winter plain black boots may be worn.

PE Kit

Children should have available as a separate set of clothes to change into for PE/games lesson, as follows:

  • Lionel Primary logo white round neck t-shirt
  • Plain navy shorts
  • Plain navy tracksuit bottoms (optional)
  • Plimsolls or trainers

Hair and headwear

If hair is long enough, it must be tied back with a simple inconspicuous hair band. Large bows and ornate headbands are not permitted.

Hijabs must be blue, black, yellow or white and should be free of adornments.

Jewellery and nails

Children should not wear jewellery to school.  An exception will be made for pierced ears (small studs only may be worn for safety reasons) or if the jewellery is of a religious or medical significance.  Please see your child’s class teacher if this is the case.

Painted nails are not permitted at school.

Swimming

Our pupils in Year 3 swim each term. For swimming children must wear:

  • A one-piece swimming costume or trunks (not board shorts)
  • A swimming hat (this can be purchased via Parentmail)

Second hand uniform

The PTA hold nearly new second-hand uniform sales throughout the year.  The sale raises money for school projects.

Please ensure all items of uniform are clearly marked with your child’s name.

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have updated our school uniform policy which will take effect when we come back to school in September.

We know that many supermarkets and uniform stockists have early offers and so wanted to share this with you before you make any purchases. Please make sure you purchase items of uniform in the correct colours.

Read the policy carefully and if you have any questions ask a member of staff.

In addition, the PTA are holding a second hand uniform sale in the playground after school on Thursday 20th June 2019.  If you have any uniform that your child has outgrown and that is in good condition, please send it into school. All items will be sold for £1 with proceeds being used to purchase new books for our class reading corners.

Kind regards,

Mrs Hone

Head teacher

We have made new changes as to how you can order uniform from 22nd June 2018

Due to the rise in pupil numbers, we are no longer able to sell the items from the school.

All uniform will now be purchased direct from Price & Buckland with the exception of Swimming hats that can still be purchased via Parent Pay.
