Staying Safe Online

With children accessing more online provision, it is important that they understand how to stay safe online. Every year Lionel Primary School proudly celebrates Safer Internet Day, which is a global campaign to promote the safe and responsible use of technology. This year the theme is ‘An internet we trust: exploring reliability in the online world’.

We believe that it is very important for our pupils to be aware of the risks online and educated to make sensible, SMART decisions so they can use technology safely. By following the SMART acronym, children can become safe and responsible internet users.

There is a lot of support available to help you support your child at home. Below are some useful links to help you keep your children safe online:

Safer Internet Day - 2023

Safer Internet Day On Tuesday 7th March 2023, we celebrated Safer Internet Day which is a global campaign to promote the safe and responsible use of technology. This year, the theme was ‘Want to talk about it? -Making space for conversations about life online’ This looks at the importance of children discussing their online activities with trusted adults and their friends to become more responsible internet users.

Here are some of the ways we celebrated the event at Lionel:

• Circle times discussing how they use the internet at home.

• Exploring online scenarios through role play.

• Playing a board game responding to different online problems.

• Discussing who they can speak to about their online life.

Please continue discussing your child’s life online at home.

Thank you for your support, Miss Selby Computing Coordinator
